Injectable Fillers
Injectable soft tissue fillers can fill in unwanted facial lines and soften and smooth facial folds, creases and acne scars. They can also be used to restore or add fullness to the lips and cheeks. They are safe and require minimal downtime.
The fillers Juvéderm® and Restylane® are derived from hyaluronan, a natural substance found in human tissue.
When are they used?
Fillers are used to improve many areas of the face including
- Nasolabial Folds – deep smile lines that run from side of the nose to corners of the mouth
- Marionette Lines at the corner of the mouth
- Periorbital Lines – crow’s feet at the corner of the eyes
- Forehead Lines – worry lines that run across the forehead
- Perioral Lines – smoker’s lines which are vertical lines on the mouth
- Glabellar Lines – frown lines that run between the eyebrows
- Some facial scars
- Redefining lip border and plump up lips
- Cheek depressions
- Acne scars
What happens during the procedure?
A treatment session may take 10 to 20 minutes. A numbing cream is commonly used for greater patient comfort and the filler gently placed beneath the skin with a small needle.
What are the risks and potential complications?
Redness, swelling and discomfort at the injection site may occur after treatment. A local hardening of the skin is a rare but a possible side effect. Another rare complication is temporary discoloration which will disappear.
What do I expect after the treatment?
Results are immediate with minimal recovery time. Because these fillers are natural substances, the product is reabsorbed by the enzymes in the body giving you a lasting effect for 6-12 months.
Cost
The cost of the injection will depend upon the number of areas treated and the amount of product used. For a given area such as the deep smile lines or for lip augmentation, the cost typically ranges from $450.00 – $900.00 per treatment.
