Oakville Plastic Surgery and Advanced Skin Care offers microneedling with Dermapen®, an innovative skin needling technology which is FDA registered for skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and acne scarring.

How it works

The Dermapen® consists of 11 spring-loaded, sterile, disposable, stainless steel micro-needles. These needles are delivered to precise depths of the skin with an automated stamp-like motion. The depth of needle penetration is set based on the treatment area and the condition being addressed. By creating fractionated micro injuries in the skin, the body’s healing cascade is triggered, thereby stimulating new collagen synthesis and skin cell renewal without the risk and downtime of light and laser treatments. The Dermapen is safe for all skin types and provides a holistic and natural form of skin resurfacing.

Oakville Plastic Surgery and Advanced Skincare is committed to providing the highest level of care and safety to its patients. Providing microneedling treatments with the Dermapen® technology allows for adjustments to the needling speed and depths. The 90 degree angle by which the needles are penetrated into the skin enhances the effectiveness of needling by generating a precise and comfortable session. The amount of microneedling sessions required to achieve the desired results will vary for each individual. To determine if microneedling is right for you, we invite you to book a complimentary consultation with our medical aesthetician.

Redness and swelling will be present on the treatment area. The severity will depend on the intensity of the performed treatment. A red or pink skin tone akin to a moderate sunburn will persist over the span of a few days. Post-treatment topical skincare will be prescribed to soothe, calm and protect, as well as support skin healing. The final results of the microneedling session emerge after a month, with possible continued improvements developing over several months.
