Whether we were born with them or they develop over time, moles are a defining physical feature. Beauty marks enhance our unique individual beauty, however when a mole is unsightly or becomes easily irritated, patients may opt for mole removal.

How it works

For surface, flat and light coloured lesions, an Nd:Yag laser is used to target and destroy the cells of the lesion. For moles that are raised and have roots that are situated deep in the skin, surgical excision may be required. In both cases the mole removal can be achieved with minimal discomfort, downtime and scarring.

Treatment

Oakville Plastic Surgery and Advanced Skincare is committed to providing the highest level of care and safety to its patients. To determine if a mole removal treatment is right for you, we invite you to book a complimentary consultation with our medical aesthetician. In the case where surgical excision is required you will be referred to Dr. Nancy de Kleer, plastic surgeon for consultation and assessment. Using state of the art technology and precise surgical skill, your treatment will be customized to achieve optimal results based on the quality of the mole(s) being treated.

Recovery

Removal with the Nd:YAG laser provides the best cosmetic outcome, as no suturing is required. The treatment area will be red and crust over as the treatment area heals. Areas of the face heal faster (within 5 to 10 days) than the body (2 to 3 weeks). In the case where surgical excision is required, every effort is made to minimize potential scarring and home care guidance will be provided to ensure optimal healing.
