Male breast reduction (Gynecomastia surgery)

Gynecomastia is enlargement of the male breast. Male breast reduction is surgery to reduce the size of the male breast.

When is it used? This procedure is used when men are troubled by the appearance of their chest because of over development of their breasts.

What happens during the procedure?

Most often this procedure is performed under general anesthesia. Fat and breast tissue are removed through small incisions on the breast. Liposuction is normally used alone or with surgical removal of breast tissue.

What are the risks and potential complications?

Temporary nipple numbness, asymmetry of the chest wall, or thick scars may occur.

What do I expect after the treatment?

A flatter more contoured male chest.
