Body Lifting “Tighten and shape”

Body lifting refers to a number of procedures that tighten areas of loose skin and fat. Common areas treated include the breasts (mastopexy or breast lift), upper arms (brachioplasty), thighs, buttocks, abdomen and back.

When is it used?

These procedures are most effective in those who are at or near their ideal body weight. Loose skin may develop from weight loss, following pregnancy or nursing, or with aging.

What happens during the procedure?

Normally these procedures require general anesthesia. Extra skin is removed, and the remaining skin tightened. Incision placement, and therefore the resultant scars depend on the areas treated.

What are the risks and potential complications?

The most common complications are blood or fluid collection under the skin, and temporary numbness of the treated areas. Scars are discussed below.

What do I expect after surgery?

Most individuals return to normal activities by 10 – 14 days, but depending on the extent of the procedure it may be up to 6 weeks before returning to heavy exercise.

Scars will result from the incisions; however, every attempt is made to make these as inconspicuous as possible. Specific locations of the scars will be discussed at your consultation.

The final outcome is a trimmer more shapely body form. This is enhanced with a healthy lifestyle including good eating and exercise routines.
