Labiaplasty
The size, shape and form of women’s genitalia vary widely. These variations can be cause for concern if discomfort arises if excess skin gets pulled, chafing occurs, or sexual dysfunction results. Sometimes, women may feel self-conscious about their shape when wearing form-fitting apparel. Whatever the compelling factors may be, labiaplasty provides women with the agency to make aesthetic and functional improvements to the vulva.
Treatment
Oakville Plastic Surgery is committed to providing the highest level of care and safety to its patients. During a consultation with plastic surgeon, Dr. Nancy de Kleer, your labiaplasty goals will be established and discussed and a general health assessment will be made to ensure treatment candidacy. A labiaplasty may be conducted as a day surgery with a local aesthetic. Our team of highly skilled professionals take every measure to ensure you’re fully informed and prepared for both pre- and post-surgical care.
How It Works
There are a variety of surgical methods that may be used for the labiaplasty procedure which focuses on the labia majora and labia minora. Dr. de Kleer will create a treatment plan with your individual needs in mind. The techniques involved will include incisions, the removal of excess tissue and reshaping with the ultimate goal of realizing a natural-looking symmetrical form and optimal function for the vulva.
Recovery
The recovery required from a labiaplasty is fairly minimal. Patients can expect some discomfort, swelling and redness around the surgical site with the potential for minor postoperative bleeding. Dr. de Kleer will fully instruct you on pain management and the after-care for your surgical incisions. Follow-up visits to monitor your healing will be established to ensure optimal recovery. A week-long convalescence should be anticipated, after which time a return to non-strenuous activities can be expected. A full recovery from labiaplasty generally takes 3-4 weeks.
