Male Breast Reduction (Gynecomastia)

Men, like women, can experience abnormal growth of glandular breast tissue, a condition known as gynecomastia. Gynecomastia, or male breast reduction, is a procedure to reduce enlarged breasts.

Treatment

Oakville Plastic Surgery is committed to providing the highest level of care and safety to its patients. Plastic surgeon Dr. Nancy de Kleer will thoroughly assess your condition and conduct a general health assessment to determine treatment candidacy. Surgical procedures are performed in a fully accredited surgical facility. The administration of a general anaesthetic will be discussed and explained prior to your procedure. Our team of highly skilled professionals takes every measure to ensure you’re fully informed and prepared for both pre- and post-surgical care.

How It Works

Small incisions are made around the areola or on the breast depending on how much excess fatty tissue needs to be removed. Liposuction is normally used along with surgical removal of the breast tissue.

Recovery

A few days of rest is required immediately after your procedure and a lycra garment may be recommended to be worn for a few weeks post-surgery to facilitate healing. Dr. de Kleer will explain how to care for your surgical incisions to ensure optimal recovery and comfort. Lifting and strenuous exercise must be avoided for six weeks after the gynecomastia procedure.
