Fat plays an important role in temperature regulation, protection for our internal organs and support for our skin. That being said, it is not an uncommon sentiment to prefer less of it in certain areas like the stomach, thighs, buttocks or backs of the arms. We cannot determine or direct where fat is stored by our body and despite our best efforts excess stubborn fat may not budge.
Excess fat can result in uneven contours and unsightly bulges. These areas of excess fat may cause us to feel self-conscious and limit our activities and wardrobe choices in an effort to reduce their visibility.
There are underlying medical conditions that can contribute to excess fat storage such as metabolic and hormonal imbalances. Stress, lack of exercise and a poorly managed diet may also play a part.
