“Closing the loop on breast cancer means making sure that every woman who is diagnosed with breast cancer is aware of all of her options to heal.”
– Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada
October 15, 2014 is BRA Day – an initiative designed to promote education, awareness and access for women who may wish to consider post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. Launched in 2011 by Toronto plastic surgeon Dr. Mitchell Brown, Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day is a collaborative effort joining specialists in the field of breast surgery – and it’s picking up global momentum. Now celebrated in over 30 countries, BRA Day is lifting the veil on breast reconstruction surgery and opening a dialogue between breast cancer survivors, plastic surgeons and the public.
Dr. Nancy de Kleer is honoured to lead the surgical presentation for the Oakville/Mississauga BRA Day event happening Tuesday October 21, 2014. This event will present information on breast reconstruction surgery, followed by a question and answer period as well as testimonials from women who have undergone breast reconstruction surgery. Dr. de Kleer will be on-hand to answer questions and provide valuable information on breast reconstruction surgery.
Dr. de Kleer strongly believes in the values that shaped Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day and its events:
- “Reconstructive breast surgery can have a positive effect on quality of life for women requiring breast reconstruction.
- All women who are candidates for breast reconstruction should be made aware of the options available to them.
- All women who are candidates for breast reconstruction should be offered treatment in a safe and timely manner.”
BRA Day events are free to attend and are open to both men and women. If you’re interested in attending a BRA Day event or want to learn more about BRA Day visit their website at www.bra-day.com.
Dr. de Kleer has been committed to breast reconstruction surgery since opening the doors of Oakville Plastic Surgery and Advanced Skincare in 2005. Tune in next week for information regarding breast reconstruction surgery treatments at Oakville Plastic Surgery.
